as title suggest i bolted up my sc14 a few days ago. getting detonation in 2nd gear 5000 rpm and most of 3rd. everything is standard. i just bolted the charger on. any help would be great
I would assume that your running premium fuel, when you start running big boost not that 2-3 psi is big but the timing needs to be retarded, if your running a v6 it should have a knock sensor that retards your timing when knock is detected. i think you need a proper tune that should fix the problem and get you better power gains.
You're not getting enough fuel delivery.
You need a 2 bar MAP sensor (correct me someone if I'm wrong, but don't you even need one for low boost to allow proper fuel maps?) and a good tune.

do you need a new tune with the 2 bar map sensor?
You need a new tune if you make any changes to your engine setup.

see thats the thing i dont want to fork out heaps of $$$ on tunes all the time. turbo the old falcon and all you had to do is put a rising rate fuel reg in and they are quick as ####. boosting a vp is turning out to be a pain. think ill try my luck with a adjustable rising rate fuel reg, 10 psi pulley and water meth injection set up to cool intake temps
oh true might swing him a pm. cheers mate
Why would you even waste your time if your only pushing 2 or 3 psi. The gains would be negligible at best.
Welcome to the internet where people have opinions that you might not like
You can stay on a 1Bar Tune to 5psi with bluetops, but just for 2-3psi make sure you run premium fuel with a CAI or just slap the pod to the front bar or just down lower near the rad.
If you get some Bluetops 775s and get a tune from Greenfoam it will run heaps better, the tune greenfoam did for me on 5psi 1bar tune was close to spot on and it did go pretty good to.
~ VN POWER ~ Click the scales
If u get injectors and a tune, u can run more than 2-3psi. And as stated above, a map sensor if going above 5psi.
I put a sml M62 blower on a manual vp. I just bought a set of 2nd hand L67 inj, 2bar map, and had 1 dyno tune done
on the orig delco ecu at 7psi. Ran great, and made around 220atw. B4 the tune etc, it pinged and carried on like yours wen I test drove it. I tried the increased fuel press trick, but it still pinged.
So, with such a sml amount of boost pressure in mind, a tune, wether it's a memcal sent to u, or one done on a dyno..
is still a must to make the most out of 2-3 psi...as is a decent exhaust. Also upgrade ur oil press relief spring to an
Ecotec or L67 one,to give more oil press.($4.00).
Hey Guys, Have been searching this site, many others and google and this thread is very similar too my question!
vn r33 r6 - Did you sort your problem out? What did you do?
I have an Unknown side mounted Sc14 Supercharger kit on my VP S2, Thought it was CRS but alas it's not, And I have a few issues. It back fires, fart's, miss's. What can I do?!?!
I have a 3inch intake with a Large Uni filter
SR20 BOV as a bypass value. It is mounted between the throttle body and supercharger and the Vacuum line is from one of the 2 ports in the back of the throttle body.
I have sealed and retained the dipstick ( Coils reloacted)
New rocker cover gaskets
2.5inch sports exhaust
Boost gauge (1-2psi @ Idle and think I've seen 12-15psi at revs (has spiked higher tho))
Standard MAP Sensor (have a 2 Bar MAP sensor but the motor won't even fire with it in)
T700 Auto
Tomorrow I'm going too tap a hole in the Oil cap and run that too a catch can too try release crank pressure.
I have a adjust fuel reg for it but not confident on a PSI for it - 35psi OK?
Whats the go with MAMCAL's and tuning them?
It's not in a street car so getting it too a shop and finding a shop and finding a shop to work on its a bit of a last resort.

This an old pic. I have cleaned every thing up alot!!! This was a mock up too see what I needed.
The barb on the intake is the boost gauge port. The Bypass vavle is between it and the super charger.
Should I get Magna Injectors? V8 304 injectors? Or Bosch 775's?
Magna injectors are 775's. they are 24lb which is pretty small, v8 304 are the same injectors as v6's, around 19lb or so.
If its honestly doing around 12psi it must have 1 tiny pulley on it. You will need something like 42lb bosch injectors and a tune to suit the 2bar map sensor(as you know, it wont run without a 2bar tune) You will also want a decent intercooler setup as these things generate an insane amount of heat at that kinda boost, they are revving outside of there comfort zone/ efficiency.
I had great results with running 2 blow off valves, a tiny 19mm bosch one from a subaru vented excess boost at idle, while my 50mm chinese bov releived excess boost when you lifted off. it ended up with a really quite idle (for one of them anyway)
To be honest, once you have forked out money for bigger injectors and a intercooler setup, you might as well ditch the sc14 and just run a turbo setup instead, took me ages to make the changeover, but it was so worth it in the end.
If you do decide to keep at it, and get 42lb bosch injectors, PM delcowizzid, he spent a fair wack of time realtime tuning my sc14 setup, chances are my old tune could be of use to you.

I have had a PM on here about 42lb injectors that I'm pretty keen on. Just trying too avoid a full retune of the computer ATM. The motor was around $100, The charger kit was $555, new plug's, fuel reg and gauge $250, Intake piping $110, so its added up very quick.
I found a Dyno tuner near home that i never new about and he can replace the memcal with a chip and tune it live. He thinks it would cost around $1200 - $1500 too get it tuned and running sweet. That's ALOT too spend on a $100 motor.
I put vent in the oil cap with a filter too release crank pressure, temp fix. I also replaced all the plugs and spaced out the lead's and it is running better but still breaking down under load in highish rpm's.
I was lead too believe when i bought the kit that with such a low boost that it would not need a tune. I really don't know what too do!
I spoke too MACE Engineering and he said that his Magna Injector Memcal might not be right, so not sure there.
Is there any way too get it running well (Not tune well) for a lot less?
Temp Vent/filter I have put in to vent the crank case. I will run a catch once I get this all sorted.
Fuel Reg and gauge too sort out fuel issues hopefully.
Suggestions?
Thought's?
chrrr - Do you still have your Memcal that i could buy?
XR6Turbo (ba/bf) have 29lb injectors that will suffice.I made 286rwkw's with my stock injectors in my BA.They will support nearly 200rwkw on a boosted V6,these will be plenty for you and also cheap.
Next option would be 36lb white tops from the supercharged V6.
Dont be tight on the tune or fuel system or it will end in tears, maybe hold the intended start up date off so you can save more. The live tuning is killer man,you will love it.
Cool setup you have going their^^^^^Thankyou Toyota lol.
My daily is an XR6Turbo lol
The start up date is out of my hands.
Toyota? The bov is of an S15 SR20
Oh you mean the S/C lol my bad
I was talking blower bloke, sorry I was a little vague.
Yeah I got 346rwkw(gtx3582R turbo)in my daily BA(im not bias, these things rock),giving those std rods a run for their money ha ha.Also got the VX but thought to leave the Ford out of my sig.Im a Holden man.

my memcal went with my old sc14 sorry, if you want a tune then just PM delcowizzid, tell him everything you can and make it nice and easy for him to read, give him a few days to get back to you as hes pretty busy at the moment.
None of us use a fancy fuel reg on our turbo setups, or on my sc14 setup when it was running 10psi, just bigger injectors and a meaty fuel pump. Works pretty well!

ran a new seperate earth to the coil packs AFI module thing this motoring and changed the plugs too new ones and took it for a run. Is much better but still breaking down. I have some Magna Injectors now, just need 2 more lol then I'll swap them over and try that.
I haven't put in the fuel reg yet, trying too avoid it as it will be a massive job.....
I have 2.6 Blue top magna injectors are they the correct one's?

I have magna injectors now. Going too try them now. Will post resukts
Ii have just done a few runs with the magna injectors and it's raps better in the rev range and up high. I'd I dees tge throttle Its fine but if I stab it, it breaks down then gets too a spit and revs fine.
Suggestions?
No updates? No new imput?
