Just brought some VE SS rims and I know they don't fit Pre ve. Just wondering how much it will cost to get them fitted, if anyone knows? Sorry If i'm posting in the wrong section, new here.
Thanks guys
You have to get the centers machined, which can cost anywhere between $80 - $120.
Thanks mate
I know people who've just used a die grinder you need to take about 2mm off. personally i'd pay someone to do it. and use larger wheels nut too which need a 21mm
Can you tell me how they fit.. Like scrubbage wise?
Yeah no worries bud, I'll get a picture up this week when i get them on. They are still at the shop.
Don't they look way too big?
Looks can be deceiving haha... Yeah they do look pretty big up against the car.
Alrighty, these are the Ve SS rims I plan to put on my car. Just picked them up from getting them machined out. They are too big? Is it the tyre size that is the problem? Also I need to know if vz nuts will hold these bad boys on.
Also I painted my tailights today with night shade. I didn't do the whole light, I left the indicator, refector and reverse lights untouched. Mainly because I don't want to attracted to my attn to my car. Still looks great let me know what you think.
Please Ignore the shabby paint, It's getting fixed in 3 weeks, costing about 2k.
I couldn't take off the tailights due to a bolt being stuffed. Having problems uploading a picture of the tail lights when they are finished so heres a link http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/585/1002246.jpg/

they will but im told on VR/S they hit hit the body (outside) and rubb where normaly wheels hit the inside
depends on the tyre size mate, the walls could be a bit too big, what size rims are they? i believe you may have to roll your guards to fit them it may help. not sure about the VZ nuts though, shouldnt be a problem but id check with a tyre place to be sure.
i used that stuff too on my tail lights and it comes up wicked except i went as dark as i could with mine as well as the middle garnish to complete the tinted look so its all a black strip,if you look at my DP you can see it but il upload another one of it better 2moro when i have better light, though yours is nice its got a nice stock sleeper look to it like it could have come factory which is great,i love that. i took my lights out but i had a problem doing coz of a stuffed bolt too,if you look closer im using a VP setup on my VN,the VN lights were screwed big time,so i got a dremmel and the bolts out, just go to a wreckers and get some new ones, paint them yourself out of the car and hack the old one out if need be. nice job though mate, keep the car posted as a build thread im about to make one and we can follow, also with your paint,im painting mine either this week or next, will cost me about $200,purpose made spraycan from auto1
Hey man, the tyre size is 245/45/R18, rims are 18's. I just went to tyrepower just before and they said I need to put on 235/40/18's which is the smallest tyre for the rim they reckon.. So I really hope it fits!
Thanks man, yeah the tint makes it look sweet. I did my garnish as-well I think it's slightly darker then the lights. Yours looks good, but I can't get a bigger picture. My car was fully stock up until about 3 weeks ago when I chucked a pioneer deck in it. It's done 139xxxkm's. So it's a good car to work with. The only downfall is the paint which has faded and the roof is starting to rust.. It's going to cost quite a bit to get fixed, but i'm prepared to cough it up ( it's a good car).
Thanks for the advice Ice and I'll update you guys when I get them on and get the car painted.
thanks man
that should be better, ignore the left hand ones style as this was before i completed the set,il get a new photo soon and put it up on my build thread.
Yea that should just fit under, whether you get a scrub while you go over bumps is another story, you could also try spacers and rolling the guards.
if you want to save cash do alot of the prep work yourself, hell you can even paint it yourself with the right advice and knowledge of technique,i am,its gona save me loads.
if you want the easy way of doing the prep work, buy or make a fitting for a drill that can fit a circular sand paper, use some 200-300 grit paper and have a go,dont go back to bare metal, just take a layer off so its even, clean off the dust, prepsol it ($20-30),hit it with a primer (about $25 or so),you can get primer in the spray can,no need for a gun, that will save you at least half, then you can get the paint and clear coat, about $30 a can
how is that wrong? ive done it before, sure its a bit more work involved but its cheaper than get it done proffessionally, ive studied in auto body repair and spraying,i have the technique and everything
even if you only do a couple of hobby paint prep jobs a year, your better off just buying an electric orbital sander with like a 5mm stroke. youll get heaps better results. you can even roll on your 2k primer if you want. thats if your dead set on not getting a small compressor and a supercheap auto spray gun... (im a tradesman spray painter btw)
personally id discourage anyone form "macgyvering" tools for jobs not intended... especially ones where rpm's are involved. if your not good with your hands the whole project could end up ass over tits. even worse you might end up that way too lol...
this is just my opinion. if you get good results this way, more power to you... id be interested to see some pics of your results (not trolling, promise)
dont sweat the petty... pet the sweaty...
Rims look good mate a nice start keep up the mods and the car will be turning heads in no time![]()

Thanks bro. Yeah big pain getting them on, had to get them machined out to fit and had to get different nuts. But it was well worth it.[/QUOTE]
Yeah mate hate that sort of crap, you go in thinking yep easy done then shit goes down and the jobs just got a whole added element but the end product's always worth it (my last few hour job took a good 15-20 but the end look of the car worth it)
What you got in mind next for the car bud?

haha yeah man.. Um actually probably going to sell the vp cheap, paints going on the old bugger, it's not going with the rims though haha! Going to upgrade shortly to something a bit heavier to a v8. I want to get a
Vy ss - newer, good looking interior, love the shape.. I reckon they are just good cars all round. But I still love the older models going to be hard selling the old vp ha..
