VN speakers are crap and only 4 inches located in the dash. I suggest you try get some door pods of a VR/VS. Will allow you to put 6 inch speakers in the doors.

So just get the door trims of a vr or vs at the wreckers and run some wires to them

the vr/vs door trims are slightly different at the top you take off the speaker pod and fit it to the vn doors

and if you wana change the ones in the dash, just get a flat blade screw driver and pop out the covers, then its a phillips head screw driver to take out the screws holding the speakers in,swap the new speakers in and just work backwards, but make sure you get 4inch otherwise it wont fit

no worries mate, hope they sound good, also if you want to take it a step further,go buy a DIY crossover kit and get some decent tweeters, place the tweeters right next to the 4 inch speakers you just put in,there is a tiny space right b4 your demister that has nothing on it,you can drill into it or cut it out or something to fit the tweeters perfectly

Don't bother doing this OP. 4 inch speakers are just crap and adding tweeters etc will be more hassle then it's worth.

Do you even know what you're talking about?

I've got a pair of 4" Boston Acoustics coaxials installed in my dash and they are the best sounds speakers I've had to date, very clear and crisp sound.

For those of you that don't want to molest your car with crappy door pod installations, install the speakers where they are meant to go.

EDIT: Also, if you want to install speakers into your dash the proper way (without snapping your speaker covers), you need to remove the side vents from the dash, they have 4 screws each, you need to remove the side cover first, then the side dash vents, after doing this you will see a single screw holding the speaker cover to the dash.

Personally I'd go a good set of 6" splits with the 6" in VR/VS door pods, tweeters in the standard speaker location and use some creativity for the location of the crossover. As pickled said though, dont just snap the speaker cover off, take it off properly. It's really not that much extra work to do and if you snap the cover off it'll look like crap.

Yeah I do, I've done countless Holden audio installations. Say what you will but unless you want to butcher your door cards (which I clearly didn't want to) 4" speakers will have to do.

Done countless audio installations but don't even know about an install in a vehicle fitted with LPG. Riiiight. I don't have any LPG car's in my area and know the legalities so what's your excuse.

Alright so I don't know about the legalities involving a custom boot setup for a car with LPG, what's your point?

Trying to prove something? I've noticed most of your posts are useless and most of the time don't contribute to the thread at all.

I'm hardly on this site at all but try to contribute effectively where I can.

"4inch speakers are shit" =/= effective contribution.

4 inch speakers are not shit. Its the quality you buy, and how you set them up that matters.

3 years of live sound engineering, PA rental and service says so.

you can cut the tension here with a knife, get over it both of you,4 inch speakers arent shit though, ive got a set of 4 inch pioneers and set with a pioneer head deck sound amazing, clear, and with tweeters there is no match, but whose to say you cant add the door pods yourself as well as the 4 inch ones, more is always better after all,but its not up to you to tell people to piss of their ideas just because you found your one better for your own needs, the OP may not want to change his doors,or has other ideas for what he wants to do.

btw why would you even say anything about LPG in a thread about speakers? your LPG system is mostly situated in the rear of the car which has nothing to do with your front 4 inch speakers or your doors.

OP take any ideas you find here and run with what you feel comfortable, you have already done your 4 inch ones so do what u like from here

Yeah righto the set of 330 dollar focal splits I bought were shit and it had nothing to do with the fact they were 4 inch. Mind you the 6.5 inch splits I then ran off exactly the same head deck and settings were ok. Sure. Btw I was merely suggesting ice cold

Probably didnt have them crossed over right. Plus your definition of high fidelity audio may not be in line with everybody elses.

If you don't think Focal are a good brand you don't know car audio. Crossover was left at factory settings. The 4 inches clipped wheres as the 6 inches didn't. It's all to do with the cone and area size.

You are right on that point, I dont know car audio at all. I know pro audio though. Only difference is our gear is bigger, and we get paid for it. IE its not just for the wank factor of having a thousand buck stereo in your thousand buck car.

And Im not posting because I want to argue with you mate, Im simply pointing out that saying all 4" drivers is shit is pretty retarded.
