    Default Vp exhaust

Hi all just a quick question I've got a vp 5 litre and yesterday was bored so I dropped the tail pipe off has muffler in it so ofcourse louder. But question is if I put a straight through tail pipe on (no muffler) would it sound the same as no tailpipe? I rekon its echoing on the body cause its f@ckin loud lol. to be honest with 2 mufflers me car sounds shit. Just want it to sound nice but not like it straight outta extractors! At the moment it has I believe to be HSV headers and a 2 1/2 inch system cheers for looking.

It will sound smoother than it does exiting straight out of the muffler. Still loud, but better. IMO, 5.0L's don't need a rear resonator.

My 5ltr has just the 1 muffler and sounds ok and not loud at all. Wish it was louder.

When the end of the pipe is under the car the low frequencies propagate much more. Listen to an old International tray truck for example, then one that has the exhaust poking out from under the tray. Or the difference between a race car with open exhausts under the car and a competition tractor with exactly the same motor and exhausts but sticking up out in the open.

Anyone care to post a youtube vid of 5L with and without rear muffler?

Cheers fellas either way I plan to run the tailpipe with no muffler just don't want epa fines and shit not worth the hassle but at the moment shes way to quite lol. Here heaps of other 5 litres and even 5.7s and they sound the way a v8 should which is what im chasing! Cheers

Just run one muffler in the middle and then a strait pipe out the back. On my old vq i had a stock system with just one muffler in the middle sounded alright not to loud. I later cut it just before the diff due to damage from being low and it sounded a bit louder but not by much so id say just one muffler in the middle and strait rear pipe is the way to go.

I have straight pipe at the rear and 1 muffler in the middle.. It's old and had a crack in it and had it welded up to pass a rwc but looking at swapping it to a straight through muffler fir better sound.
