Hey guys, Im looking at getting a corvette servo and fitting it myself, Iv watched the install vid but the trans is out of the car. How hard is it to do with trans in the car? Cheers guys.
I think it depends on your extractors. I'm told with standard ones it's fairly easy, but with after market longer ones it's a little more difficult and meeds two people, one to fit it and one to lever the extractors away slightly.
Thats what i wanna hear, Thanks for the reply mate.
No worries, I hope it works out. Let me know how you go.Thats what i wanna hear, Thanks for the reply mate.
What does the corvette servo do?
Gives a slightly firmer and faster shift (usually 2nd apply) by increasing the shift pressure in an automatic 'box. Factory fitted to some corvettes, hence the name. What does the corvette servo do?
ah cool.. thanks for the info
An alternative to levering the RHS extractor, is to lever the gearbox to the left, so you have room to pop the servo cover out and pull out the internals. That's how we did it for my car.
Ah cool, do you have to loosen any bolts or do you just lever it as is?An alternative to levering the RHS extractor, is to lever the gearbox to the left, so you have room to pop the servo cover out and pull out the internals. That's how we did it for my car.
It can be done in the car, you don't have alot of room between the trans and tunnel and can be fiddly, if possible support the trans by a jack, undo the rear x-member and lower the jack with the car on ramps and secured to try get some more room.... make sure you clean all the dirt off and around the cover before popping the cir-clip that holds it in, obviously you don't want dirt in there messing up the teflon seals and o-rings, you don't want it in your eye's.
It can be a pain if you've never done it before. Take your time, use a torch and a mirror if need be to make sure it's all in straight and that the cover is back in place and the cir-clip is in it's grove properly.
The first one i did in the car and the cover wasn't quite in properly although the cir-clip looked to be.... left a nice trail of oil when it hit 2nd gear down the road, stopped in 3rd, left the trail again when i gave it the boot and kicked down to 2nd, also covered everything under the car from that point back.
