Hey guys,
Trying to diagnose what the problem is with my brakes and could use a bit of advice on what the problem is before I go replacing perfectly fine parts.
Started the car today, put the foot on the brake pedal and all I could hear was a loud hissing noise coming from behind the dash. Went for a quick drive and i figured out pretty quickly that the breaks are screwed when I put the pedal down as far as I could and it barely made it passed what I would call gentle braking.
Changed brake pads yesterday and there didn't seem to be any problems. Didn't disconnect any hoses so there shouldn't be any air in the system and I was careful so that I didn't damage any hoses. Haven't lost any brake fluid out of the reservoir either.
If I put the foot on the brake pedal with the engine off and turn the engine on then the brake pedal depresses. When the engine is turned off it pushes up again very slightly. Also when pushing the brake pedal down while the engine is running the revs increase and then drop again when the brake pedal is released. I've tried blowing into the check valve on the brake booster and it would allow air through when blowing from the booster side but doesn't allow air from the intake side.
I'm pretty sure this means my booster is cactus but I would like to hear some other peoples opinions too.
Cheers,
Jarrad

did u take resovir lid of when changing brakes and depressing piston back?
Yeah popped the lid off, made sure the rubber thing inside the lid and the lid were back on properly too. Checked it a couple of times now actually, I was really hoping for an easy (cheap) fix haha

did u regrease all the slides?
No as I hadn't exposed them. I just undid one of the caliper bolts and loosened the other so that the caliper could be lifted up exposing the pads and keeping everything else in place

Took a chance and went out and got a second hand booster. What a pain in the ass to fit, was all easy until it came to those two nuts behind the dash. Was definitely a dodgy booster though as the new one works perfect, car really pulls up well now.
