Just replaced the standard VN steering wheel with an VN SS steering wheel...
Cant get it centered on the splines, either off to the right or to the left..
Is there an adjustment that will bring it back in line..
It is half a notch off if that makes sence..
Standard wheel was dead straight and car tracks along nice and straight...
Will I need to get a wheel alignment place to recentre it...

Id go get a wheel alignment done, and just ask them to re centre the steering wheel as part of the alignment. The tie rods will need to be adjusted to move the steering wheel either way slightly, you can do it yourself, but it will stuff the wheel alignment up and you will just have to take it to get one afterwards anyway ,so its probably easier to get it all done at the same time by the aligner.
No worries mate. These days, with fuel prices the way they are, it pays to keep the wheel alignment correctly adjusted, even if its only slightly out of alignment, it will make the car use heaps more fuel than it should. Plus it usually makes the car way better to drive when its correctly set. I get one done every 6 - 12 months, depending on how the car "feels".
Since you are changing the steering wheel - which obviously doesn't line up exactly the same as the old steering wheel - when you get the wheel alignment done, I would get the wheel alignment guys to make sure the steering rack is centred correctly first, before the actual wheel alignment is attempted.
great bit of info, i was gonna get a wheel alignment done myself so i now know what to say to
the guys at the mechanics.. Very useful info here thanks
