    Default Advice needed!

    Hey guys,

Need a bit of advice on a couple of things. First of all what's the easiest way to change a strut top bush? I did the left hand side today and it took hours to get the strut re-attached to the bush. No problems getting it all apart just had heaps of trouble getting the threaded part of the strut to stay 'up' long enough for me to attached the cover and bush to it. The damned thing kept sinking down on me. Really hoping there's an easy way of doing it as I have to do the right hand side tomorrow.

Second, how do I go about changing a uni joint? Took one look at it and I have no idea.

    Cheers,
    Jarrad

Uni joints are not the easiest. I planned on doing my own too but after watching them get put in I'm thinking it was $100 well spent.

Check out this PDF from pg16 onwards it covers uni joint replacement. The only thing different is the commodore 21R joint has internal snap rings holding the uni joint in place (on the inside of the yoke). You can get it out with a screwdriver, long nose pliers and a bit of patience

If you dont have a press you can use a soft hammer to knock the bearing caps in just be gentle

Got the right strut top in nice and easy today. Took a whole 30mins instead of the 3-4 hours it took yesterday. Makes me think my front left shockie is worn out as the front right didn't sink at all.

Thanks for the tips on the uni's. Think I'll leave them until the weekend when I have more time. Might also invest in some snap ring pliers.
