im not sure it would be a lot of stuffing around with wiring and stuff but if you didnt have to change mounting spots or cut ur fire wall i wouldnt think so... not sure if thats right tho its just my 2 cents worth

from what i've read in section 11, No engineers report needed, same number of cylinders, it's of similar size, similar power output and you shouldn't need to fabricate any mounts, basically a bolt in swap.

quote "An engine which is not of the same type as offered by the manufacturer of the vehicle as original, but is similar in power, weight and emission standards to that of the original engine, may be fitted to such a vehicle, If alteration to the vehicle's frame or structure is involved and specially fabricated supports or structures are used, an Approval Certificate must be supplied"

tbh i'd reckon be it a buick 3800 or ecotec it'd have to be classed as the same type of engine right? gm v6

Yeah that's what i thought because its basically the same engine and its a strait bolt in.

    Thanks for the info.

Im looking at doing a similar conversion but with an L67,
There are 2 ways iv found that you can do it,
1st - Is use the VN loom an ecu but you will need to get the eco tune burnt onto the VN memcal and extend a few wires.
2nd - Is use the eco loom an ecu, but you will need to get the memcal modified (VATS off) - This is the way im doing as i got a memcal of this dude on ebay (NEW Holden VS VT VX VY V6 V8 VATS Security OFF | eBay) He is very helpful
