Gday so went to start my car today and noticed my fuel pump made no noise at all. then the car didnt start.. typical. after filding round with all the fuses and checking some wires still no power to the fuel pump.
i then got angry and smacked my fuel tank a few times and bam my fuel pump works and car starts till i turned it off again.
advise? do i need a new pump or? if so r series 1 vn's fuel pumps different frm series 2?
commmon problem for the vn's even when new the fuel pumps dying and yes a series 2 will fit or use an after market bosch pump same as standard from repco or the like abit cheaper than holden genuine .
yes common problem with most fuel pumps that die, a whack to the tank can sometimes bring them back to life.
if you can wait for the post and don't need the car instantly there's some cheap ones on ebay atm. $50 all up, i bought 1 and it's working a treat.
you need to drain the tank to remove/fit i'm sure there's tutorials out there to tell you how.
VN - VS HOLDEN COMMODORE FUEL PUMPS | eBay
alright sweet as, go down and sort a new fuel pump out tomorrow then. hopefully the new 1 wont be so load??
If it's anything like a vs it's a bitch, but yes fuel needs to be drained, the kits come with everything you need and surprisingly detailed instructions, and if your like me and can't be shagged until you've had lunch and a coffee then it'll take anything up to 4 hours, the bitchy part is getting the pump and filter out of the hole and past the diff, make sure you've got some string or wire handy so you don't loose the wiring in the tank, and for gods sake disconnect the battery...... Good luck
hold up, will a VL 88 rb30 3L fuel pump fit my vn as my mate offered 1 free??
