i have recently replaced water pump radiator and thermostat no hoses are leaking and all air has been bled out yet for some stupid reason i keep loosing coolant not a cracked head or gasket either been checked from mechanics and no ones got any idea its not a huge loss either its very minimal but sometimes i can go 3 or 4 days without topping up overflow bottle and yet other week ill have to top it up every 2 days any ideas what could be wrong would be greatly appreciated also not heatercore either its not leaking
Just a thought - could be a crack in a hose that only shows up sometimes... a split in the main body of the hose?
if there's no visible signs of leaking, i'm guessing your mechanic pressure tested the system?
It could be the intake manifold gasket, fairly common, they're plastic with silicon impregnated into them, when old they crack and under pressure at normal operating temp water can be forced into the intake and out the exhaust showing no signs except for the water mysteriously dropping.
If it's not major and only a slight leak try some of the holden/bars leak pellets as a band aid and see if that helps.
If it turns into a serious leak and can be confirmed this is where it is leaking it's advisable to replace the intake gasket, if large amounts of water make it into the running engine it may cause some serious damage.
this is a really bad gasket and was probably damaged more when removed but shows the general wear and tear
