My friendly local locksmith tells me that commodore ignition barrels are notoriously unreliable and provide him with a significant proportion of his daily business. The good news is that as long as you can get the key in and get it to the accessories position you can get the ignition barrel out in one piece and replace it. You use a curved pin, insert it into a hole on the side of the barrel and release a catch that allows the barrel to come out. good luck

I do at least 1 every 2-3 weeks definately a common problem...I replace maybe a 3000 Commodore ignition locks to every 1 Falcon ignition lock.....not saying I have done 3000 but you get the idea

It should not be hard assuming you have unscrewed the switch for easier access

This was my next question. If i remove the switch from the rear of the barrel, Will that open the back up enough to slide the broken piece out?

    Pics of the barrel.

The broken piece will be sitting in the switch.....you may need something like a pin to get it out....its hard to tell from your pics but the the tip is definately broken off yeah ??
