Hi ya i gotta VP V6 BT1 FE2 plated car with all the usual stuff bash plate dash wires to roof shifter mod manual in glove box with SA police etc etc but what i was wondering is did all BT1's have an LSD? i know most people would say yes and others would say yes again cause its part of the FE2 suspension package but seriously this old fella i got the car from bought it from the auction after the coppers had had there way with it and he sure looked after the thing and told me apart from replacing front end bushes and some hoses everything is as it was when bought from the government auctions - this thing was obviously a run around town throw the bad guy across the bonnet jobby but yeh all cop options bar the LSD - i have also come across a matching VP ex-cop car this too had no LSD also one VN and a VR wagon all BT1 plated but yeh no LSD so does anyone know for sure?? guessin all V8 highway cars would had had one for sure but V6 patrols im not sure bout? ive most probably answered my own question here but just curious as it makes sence to me in certain situations an LSD would be most welcome whilst being used as a police car? ta for any help![]()
I have a VR V6 wagon ex ambo with FE2 and rest of police pack upgrades, and also no LSD. So maybe it wasn't part of the pack until VS? No idea.
It should Lsd as standard.

If you take it to Holden, they can also give you a print out of all the cars information. Not sure if they charge for this or not.
My young bloke got himself a beautifully looked after white VN BT1 V6. It has no LSD fitted. The old people we bought it from, bought it from the NSW police auctions somewhere, and then hardly ever drove it.. It has the modded auto shifter gate, 85 litre fuel tank, FE2 suspension, the police certified 2 km/h increments dash, it also has the police spec front seats with less bolstering etc,and has the special police ECU that has the radio interference package..
This cars bloody near new inside still, its in excellent condition for its age. We have the original order sheet and build sheet that shows what the police ordered, and there is no LSD option marked on the sheet.
Not every ex cop car is a BT1. I very highly doubt your son's VN is a BT1.

Would say so. BT1 should be V8 suspension and LSD only from memory. My old VR was ex cop but was a 6 and had no BT1 etc

Its got BT1 on the compliance plate under the bonnet. Its also got BT1 on the police order sheet. That would have to make it a BT1 optioned vehicle I reckon.
EDIT: It also shows on the vehicle build sheet that it was fitted with the BT1 option. This same build sheet shows it was fitted with the (option LG2) V6 engine.

Something else thats weird is that it shows one of the option codes is V8J, and I cant find any details on this code. Ive even got a holden dealer smash repair parts catalogue, and this lists all VN to VS build options etc, and theres no mention of option code V8J under the VN or any or any other models. Unless its a typo, the only codes that are similar are V8I= trailer prov government, V8P=modified shift gate,(which it has got but also has the V8P option code for it. And V88= gov ladder rack. I thought it might have meant to have been option code V8I, but the car has no towbar or trailer wirning connector etc and never has by the looks of the wiring in the boot and from under the car.Nothing has ever been disturbed anywhere, no wiring in the boot, nothing. You can usually see some sort of evidence if towbars have been fitted and removed etc...
Ages ago when we first got the car, I posted up pics of these order papers that came with the car, but I cant find them now. There on here somewhere though if someone can chase them up..

My 304 VP has BT1 on the compliance plate and it does have an LSD. And holes drilled everywhere. And weird wires and switches everywhere. What's this shifter mod people are talking about?
The BT1 and most other police cars were ordered with a modified auto trans shift gate. All it does is it allows the gear selector to be shifted straight back to second gear from either drive or overdrive, without lifting the shift gate lock button. I guess its supposed to make things a little bit easier for the driver when theyre chasing someone..With normal auto commys, you have to lift the button on the auto shifter to change the gear selector back to second from either the drive or overdrive positions. This was option code V8P on VN and VP models.
Hey thank you so much for your responses this website really is great - the car i have is most definately an old cop car you can still just make out the numbers on the roof and theres a plug smack in the middle of the front half of the roof where the ariel went - it appears the SA VN to VS had the wires to the roof coming through a hole on the passenger side behind the top of the plastic moulding between the front and back doors if ya look down from the top you can see where the wires were simply cut off and left in the roof but other states where different? the vic cars just had holes bored through the roof for wiring from what ive seen before! i must admit the patch jobs where always pretty good when they finished with em- anyhows that diff question is odd as most documentation on cop cars usually always includes the LSD option - ive been goin through the pick ya own parts wreckers for a fair while now and have come across ex cop V6 cars and the only one i know of that had a LSD still in it was a VS it had 9c1 instead of the usual bt1 that i come across on the firewall plate so must have been one of the last when it changed from bt1 to 9c1 - anyhows my moneys on the V8's all had em for sure just the lower run around V6's they dont appear to have bothered with too much? another thing ive noticed is it thumps extremely hard from first to second the rest feels normal so yet another cop car questiondid they also add a shift kit i wonder? Hmmmm best see if that build sheets still under the carpet me thinks.... you would also think there must still be wiring documentation etc and pics of the completed layouts surely somewhere tucked away?
only thing i dont know about my ex cop car is
the big fuse box with nissan on it wtf is that crap for
