Lost 3rd and 4th gear someone help me please

Hey guys
Iv just finished doin a carby conversion on my vp v8 wagon before the conversion I had every gear now I can only get 1st an 2nd note: car is just for burnouts so Im trying to solve the problem as cheap as

Isnt that the only gears u would need to do burnouts

correct me if iam wrong, not 100% on V8 setups, but isnt the transmission still controlled by the kickback cable? have you worked out a way to connect it to the carby so ti will still knock the gears back n forth etc...
