I haven't got under to have a look yet but I'm thinking the rubber insulator thing that goes around the tailshaft centre bearing has seen better days. Trying to track down minor noises transmitted to car body.
Question - if I take off the half-circle clamp that goes around the rubber and bearing, does the rubber come off in two halves or is it a full circle, meaning the tailshaft has to come off?
"I think" that the center bearing is one piece, so you shouldn't be able to pull it apart.

Yes I know, if you get anymore manly you are in danger of making yourself pregnant!
If replacing yourself mark the cv joint so you put it back together the same as it came apart, if put together in a different spot you change the phasing(forget the correct term for it) of the uni joints, they should be X amount of degrees apart...
