    Default VQ statesman transmission type

    Hi,

Can someone tell what transmission is in a VQ statesman. Is it a Turbo 700?

Also how much would it cost to rebuild one of these transmissions?

    Thanks

yeah i think it is a Turbo 700 and as for rebuilding it would probably depend on the damage and if you want corvette servo's and that stuff in it might have to let someone who has had one rebuilt answer your question though sorry i couldnt help mate

I posted this in your other thread.

The VQ has a T700 transmission. If you get a basic rebuild, expect anywhere from $1300 to $1700, depending on where and how much damage it has sustained. If you want all the goodies, corvette servo's, stally, shiftkit, heavy duty everything, I got mine done for $2830.00. That's with the servo's supplied and fitted free, because I know the guy. So roughly about $3000.
The very existance of flamethrowers proves that sometime, somewhere, someone said to themselves, 'You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to do it.

i did mine for $2050 in Adelaide
that was with a trans cooler (the little radiator thing), mild shift kit and heavy duty everything.
I'd rather push my Holden than drive a Ford

Well i just dropped of my car today at a transmission place.

It is costing me $1900, for a full rebuild with heavy duty everything, and stage 2 shift kit.

With some of those higher prices being said, you could have converted it to manual if you wanted to.

And what go through 3 clutches? No thanks! Screw manual, I like the neck snapping shifts! Although I think the IRS cradle has had enough of it.
Manual may be better on a dyno, but not at the strip!
I spent $3,200 on mine and has been going hard for 4 years, but need to put a cooler on it though

I didn't know if it was going to be used for racing or not.

Around town driving, manual would be a lot better. My car is an auto with a shift kit and it feels really unsettled in traffic. Thats just my opinion.
