So I have an inquiry about the central locking in my VP Berlina, when I first purchased the car the central locking remote worked fine, it locked and unlocked the doors perfectly.
Over the 4 months I've had the car, every now and the remote wouldn't work, I replaced the batteries in both remotes and now they hardly work at all.
Where's the receiver located in the car for the remote? I don't understand what the problem is they seemed to be working fine and all of a sudden they don't.
All help is appreciated, thank you.
my calais had the same but i have 3 remotes so i just switched them around and put new batteries in and theree all good..
if its the original remote that has a little blue reciver at the front of it its possible it can be fixed. You will see a little blue cap with a screw pattern in it, sit outside the car and screw the screw backwards and forwards (slowly) its like tuning a radio. If it doesnt have a blue cap then chances are its been replaced recently there for nothing can be done, from there take it to a auto elec and get a new 1. Costs around $150 for a new tag and for it tuned to the central locking. hope this helps
It is the original remote, here it is:

One thing that is common is the buttons get dirty inside, if you are handy with a soldering iron it only takes 10 minutes to replace them. You can test them easily enough with a multimeter and an extra pair of hands.

Does anyone know where the receiver is for the central locking?
its the green cap in this case. try turning the screw and tune them in...
is the security system turned on? does it flash press remote on the dash?
Does the central locking work with the key?
the central locking ecu is located above the engine ecu, i think its the receiver and coded to the remotes so both might have to be replaced.

The security system was turned off when I first bought the car but I turned it on then off again after the remote started playing up, yes the central locking works with the key.
I may try tuning the remotes and see how that goes.
if it doesnt work i wouldnt bother with the system as long as the central locking works just get an alarm installed, u get new remotes!

lol... I would like to get rid of this option all together!!
Its just a V6.....
Maybe get some decent brand name batteries...?
The batteries aren't the problem, the remotes are working fine.
I tuned one of the remotes yesterday and it seems to be working again, I'll update this thread in a few days.

Ok, so I went out today to use the remote and it's not working, not even when I tune it.
Also, if I replace the central locking control module with one from the wreckers, will the remote need to be re-coded? Or is the remote programmed within the ECU?

The remote and ECU are not paired in the VP Series. VR onwards started using VATS.
For tuning of the VP remote try looking here.
hey gents, i have the vp remote with two buttons (its a calais) the inside looks totally diffrent to the above pics, doesnt appear to be a tuner of any sort, is there anything i can do?
yours has the green tuner mine had a blue sorry my mistake
and stockyvrcalais if its the non tuneable type its a new tag about $150
stockvrcalais,
Does your VP Calais remote look like the one below?
If it is, then this is the Bosch style remote and the only way a new remote will work is to program the BCM to match the remote via a Tech 1 at a Holden dealership.
You may be able to find a 2nd hand VP BCM and remote for sale at a wreckers but there's no guarantee that it will be a matched set.
