hey guys recently bought a vn 5spd, and its got nolathane bushes etc just wondering if there is anything better because the ride is very hard haha
mate i've just rebuilt a vl with most parts under it vn using nolathane bushes,
my ride is superb, when where the shocks and springs done?(you probably have cheap crap or worn out crap)unless your ridding on 20s and cut springs lol
that may be your problem!,from my knowledge nolathane is one of the dearer brands.
using nolathane or urathane (sp?) it will give you a firmer ride. as uwishn posted, check your shocks and springs.. also what size rims and tyres you running?
the only thing softer than the bushes you have are the original rubber ones. much much softer
17" vt ss wheels, i have no idea man, owned the car for 2weeks
it had a nolathane sticker and its on king springs
The king springs would be your main problem if you are after a softer ride. Simple: get softer springs, a lot easier then replacing the bushes. (unless the bushes are stuffed then I would replace them anyway)
I never use nolathane just because it makes the ride harsher and they squeek and groan too.. MY last car was a Pajero wagon with body lift and running 33 inch muddies and it squeeked and groaned so much it s**t me up the wall..
Because nolathane is no good for a 4wd because when off roading you want everyhing to stretch to the limit. Which nolathane does not. Plain old rubber bushes are best for that.Originally Posted by mr calais 5.0:2050662
When I got the paj it had most of them changed to nolathane by the previous owner. It was a family shopping wagon but I made it a 4by![]()
Rubber all the way mate..
I've replaced nolathane with rubber in my standard VN (factory FE2 with 15in tyres) and there is hardly, if any difference in ride firmness and tyre noise.
A hard ride can be caused by a few things:
*Low profile tyres (or harsh tyres such as Kellys)
*Springs (as mentioned above) if it's low to extent where it's riding on the bump stops
*Worn shockers -bottoms out easy
