Not sure about over your way, but in Sydney @ commwreck (probably the best commodore wrecker in the state) a complete low KM l67 conversion (engine, loom, trans, tailshaft, ECU etc) can be had for $1800, so for around $2000 (to allow for anything extra you might need) you have a turn key l67 in your car.. Great base for supporting mods, like smaller pulley, cooler etc...
Only $200 in unexpected extras jack? Thats way to little, more like $500-1000!

OP you sig say's it all.
Good advice here. The L67 is built to take boost and is really no less reliable than your average ecotec. I've got 250k on my VS and its been running 10PSI for the last 90k and there's been no issues whatsoever. In a lighter VP shell a supercharged 6 would be heaps of fun

put chev badges on it they make you gain 100 hp at the wheels... cold air intake (otr). full exhaust extractors highflow cat and 2.5 inch cat back. high ratio rockers. shift kit if its auto. diff gears. cam if ur real keen
oh chev badges are the best mod yet for a buick v6 like all the bogans say "chev owns holden so who cares brah" they're stupid to realise that they are both owned by gm

I know it's lame but i did a custom CAI and pod filter for the VN when i had it, certainly helps it along. If i had kept it the next thing i was going to do was a full exhaust.

Well ok I have done a few cheap mods to the VP with parts mostly scabed for little cash
list as follows;
Pacemaker extractors
Straight pipes with hotdogs
Diff gear swap to 4.11:1
And even threw in a built box with a 3000 converter for a bit of fun!!!
Any good reviews on anything else and where to go from here??
