hi guys/gals i'm 61 yrs old and have been holden/toyoda all my life.i now have a 89 vn/s sedan that has heating problems. the thermostat is stuck closed.i have removed throttle body radiator hose but cant get housing out. i can only see one bolt holding same in place .question ,is there only one bolt ,or is another hiding somewhere and how do you get the housing out otherwise .all help is greatly received thanks ...julian
There is only one bolt holding the thermostat housing in. The housings are known for corroding themselves in. Possibly a good spray of WD40 may free it.
its not just sitting on the manifold it goes into the manifold probly 1.5 cm and has an oring seal around it so you have to pull it upwards or put some thing under it and lever it up if that makes any sense but be carefull it doesnt brake i broke mine cause i didnt know how to get it out also use lots of WD40 to loosen it up

As vn1989 said, unless you are very careful you will most likely break the housing, I broke my sons too but it was a Series 1, so first phone Repco Morayfield and find out if the housing and O ring are available and at what cost, also try the Holden dealer because they are sometimes cheaper, and of course there is always Stupid Sheep.
Good to know someone on here is younger than me.
