Default Stopping rattling from boot (subwoofer)

    Hey all,

As I'm like most of you, I love my bass in the car (just got a better amp now).. I was just wondering whats the best thing to use to stop whatever rattles I can in the boot? I know my boot garnish rattles/number plate a little bit... but is it better to face the sub into the car then going towards the boot?

    Any help would be great

Foam tap in between any bolt on parts and sound deadner (Dynamat and the like) on any large surface areas.

I used tech screws on my license plate with extra rubber and foam between the plate and the boot...works a charm

Adhesive backed close cell foam, Sikaflex, Dynamat, Rubber washers...

If you need any more information then that. Remove the subwoofer.

Just some ideas, Your garnish will need to be removed an sikaflexed like a bitch, then some adhesive foam stuck to boot where the garnish braces sit against the bootlid, etc etc.

Elimination really, Fix one thing, Find more rattles, Fix them.

just a bit of a warning on the sikaflex, if you use it between your frame and skin on boot lids and bonnets it can shrink back and cause what look like body damage and ripples on the out side of the panel. then youll be going back and cutting it loose again to release the wrinkles... car companies use a special non expanding foam between the panels to avoid this...

I just live with it really.. I have 2 10 inch subs in a ported box and the olny part that rattles is the garnish.. I would just use rubber washers and work from 1 noise to the next and see how ya go

pull the boot off, lay it upside down on the ground, fill the gaps in the bracing with space invader foam, seen that done plenty of times and as above just fix the garnish to the boot somehow to stop it rattling and the number plate to the garnish better.
