hey, was just wondering; if the metal teeth things on the harmonic balancer were to touch the cas magnet things..(i know there not meant to be touching (0.5mm gap)) would it cause the car, when i try to turn it over, to try start but not and sort of sound like timings out ? or turn over but clunks n stop ?? havning problems with my vn.
cheers
Does it start at all?, have you checked for any stored malfunction codes? Might give you a clue whats going on. Code 41 is for no crankshaft input signals and the car won't start with this code.
Not sure on anything else to do with the CAS but my manual says that if any of the blades have contacted the sensor renew it and the pulley although I can't see why you could not straighten the blades out.
You can check the CAS with a test lamp. Maybe someone on here can tell you how to do this, which terminals and how many pulses you should see for each ring , I think one is ring gives you 3 pulses and the other is 18 for each revolution of the crankshaft pulley.
Obviously your turning it over by hand to be able to count the pulses so remember your safety and disable the car so it does not fire up accidently.
Anyone else with more info to help?
If the blades on the back of the balancer touch the CAS, then the CAS will be rooted.
Hey mate thanks for replying,
its not starting atm, but it has briefly then conks out
i replaced the CAS with a new one and straightened a few teeth on the balancer and tryed that and still didnt work.
so i called mobile mechanic to look at it and he straightened a few more teeth and put it back on, and thats when it
started roughly for a bit then conk out he said it was coil pack so i replaced with new and didnt work lol.. now doesnt even start
it trys to turn over but sort of sounds like it gets stuck or something it stops turning over.
im just turning the harmonic balancer to see if any of the teeth are touching the magnet thing ??
nah i havnt checked for codes yet but i will ..
