ok so my 91 vn is taking longer to kick over, i have to pump the accelerator to get it turn over, is this the starter motor??? its running on petrol
Short answer-No
Long answer-It could be a couple of different things. There's a few different threads with similar issues on here. I was reading one before but can't remember the name of it.
Does it blow smoke at all when it does start?
yea when i have pumped the gas it starts and theres a puff of smoke
any1 know what this is? its starting to annoy me
yeh i had the same issue in my old vn....turned out to be a leaky injector....just had to replace the o-rings...could be a blocked fuel filter too...
terminology in the original question isn't helping here so can we clarify? By "turn over" I don't mean start. The starter motor cranks, or turns the motor, to get it to start. I suspect you mean that you need to crank your motor for longer before it actually fires up. Is this what you mean? This may help you to get assistance
cheers
and if you do mean you need to turn it over for longer before it fires/starts then hangman's short answer "no" is correct
Pumping the accelerator has absolutely no effect on an EFI engine.
Next time you go to start it, just hold your foot flat to the floor and turn it over, if it fires quicker than before, you most likely have a leaky injector or faulty fuel pressure regulator.
