    Default Issues with speed sensor

    Hey all,

Hopefully I can have some luck with my issue.. Basically I was able to get 100-110km/h on the speedometer but now it does that 80km/h problem where you get up to the speed and it flicks up and down... thing is though, its on the same line as the reverse lamps/trans controls...

funny thing is the reverse lights dont work, the transmission drives fine (if thats the trans controls)... ive changed fuses, rewired the fuse 12 spot to another one and there is power going to it when the car is on..

I've just given up to see why its just all of a sudden stopped....

Anyone know what I can try to do without taking it to the autoelectricians?

    Thanks

not sure, it was working though, i ended up getting a test light to make sure power was going to the fuse and there was, but what would the trans controls actually do?

i dunno if i should look at another vns wiring loom with the fuses as when there is no wires connected in fuse 12 (since rewiring) there was still power going on there when the key was turned

just an update.. been doing some rewiring of the fuses underneath the steering wheel... now i got reverse lights... just gotta test it on the road to see if it was definitely the bad wire making it play funny buggers... will keep you posted

dunno if this is relevant, I might be missing the point. My take is that when the fuse for the reverse lights/speedo is blown the speedo works on a backup source but jumps down and up past 80 kph to let you know there's a blown fuse. I had mis-wired the trailer socket so that every time I reversed with a trailer on I blew the fuse. Eventually I figured it and corrected the trailer plug. Not saying your cause is the same but may explain the speedo behaviour. Good luck with it
