Removing key from ignition switch - have to push barrel.

Hi all. Just treated Rory-The-White-VP to a brand new key. Seeing as I only had one key I thought this might be a good idea. Cost $35 at the local locksmiths. None of this $350-$600 stuff like a lot of newer cars! Sheesh!

Anyhoo, the old key with the ign turned off you could pull straight out of the lock but this new key you can pull almost all the way out then you have to push the lock barrel in a little bit then the key will come the last bit out.

Is this normal or are they supposed to come out without pressing the barrel?
Other than that the key works great in both doors and boot.

I would guess your ignition cylinder is very worn, sometimes shows up when you get a new key to code (cut to original spec)
