Default Car will no longer start, cant figure out why

    Hi People,
I know there is a simple awnser for this but I'm new to working with cars especially commodores so i will let you know what i have done and if anyone has any suggestions as to what can be done to help it would be appreciated immensley.

My car was running fine then i replaced spark plugs, leads, oil, power steering pump and high presure line, removed the dash(still no dash or instrument cluster in the vehicle)

when i try to start the car turns over but wont actualy start i replaced the leads individually as to not get the order wrong so i don't think its that, however i did spill a bit of oil over the spark plugs but i have cleaned thoroughly with no luck

again any help would be great

    thanks

im assuming its the vp 5l ute same as your heading? oil isnt a good conductor. might wanna clean your spark plugs with a bit of carb cleaner then blow some air at them. wouldnt hurt to double check your firing order too, just to eliminate it....

Most won't start with the dash out for some reason the dash needs to be connected .

it will (should) start without the instrument cluster, check the connections around the ECU and holdens theft deterrent system if your car has it. as the immobiliser is mounted behiund the glovebox then maybe that is the reason your car wont start - its not plugged in. maybe?

I'm with Snakemann on this, pretty sure the dash has to be connected. By dash I mean only the instrument panel needs to be connected.

ive got an 89 calais, it starts with nothing connected. theres no dash cluster or anything... make sure the override lock is connected or the fuel pump wont come on...
