    Default Central locking unit.

Alright so my alarm shit itself in a carpark and I landed up hotwiring my car siren blaring (till I ripped it out anyway) the other day. No one even bothered to see what I was doing which concerns me a bit but anyway.

I got the alarm to work again it seems, messed with the reset switch and button or at least I think that's what they are that I found.

My question is where is the central locking "brains" located? Because the actuators have all been lubed, everything was working sweet then BAM. The alarm threw a shitty and suddenly it doesn't work, alarm is a CODE unit, factory? Tried disconnecting the battery, looked for blown fuses so I might check the wiring at the main unit next but without a manual I don't even know where to look. If it's a dash out job it can stay broken lol.

The alarm flicks the drivers door lock up and down but not the others, the locks used to work from the passenger front lock to but that's dead as well so something weird is going on other than dead actuators.

what did the horn that you ripped out look like. look like a normal car horn? or one of those bugle style ones. cause it might be aftermarket. youll have to look under the dash panel and see if there is another bcm (body control module) wired in under there. might be worth it to rip it out and get it updated with a new one....

The siren is an aftermarket looking one, with untreated self tapping screws that are rusting to hell put right into the front chassis rail. Strong work by someone there.

Anyway I spent a while rewiring behind the dash and also found a bad fuse, looked good but I double checked and no continuity. The fuse was working good then just stopped, must of had a hairline crack or something. Anyway most of everything is working again, the stereo no longer cuts out randomly over bumps, the actuators all work flawless on all the doors after lubing them and I got my amp installed in the back with removable subs on a board.

The wiring has been a nightmare on this car, it's been hacked by many owners over 20 years. Wiring looms just cut off randomly under the carpet, wiring run to the stereo that rubbed and shorted on the steering column, none of the speakers except 2 aftermarket ones worked and they had been HACKED into the rear parcel shelf by punching holes. When I got it things looked good but as I peel away the covers it's pretty ugly. Mostly fixed now though. Biggest niggle is the remote doesn't work on the DVD player, first world problem

I find alarms are a poor deterrent anyway, GPS trackers are where it's at IMO. Hidden away they get most cars back if you get onto it early.
