strange vn exhaust problem
Hey my vn recently started idling rough and backfiring when I was driving the Missus to work the other day it backfired and sprayed chucks on orange glowing crap out the exhaust I checked the cat convertor and the insides were all melted looking so I replaced it and the rough idle was still there and now it just doesn't start at all any ideas what may be the problem and also why the cat would have melted?

Check your error codes. Sounds to me like your O2 sensor has gone causing it to run very rich.

Checked them and it was mat sensor nothing else and now that it won't start can't check for new codes

MAT is mass airflow temp sensor. Replace it and go from there. What do you mean it's not starting? Just continually trying to start or click to start and nothing.

It just keeps turning over and popping out the exhaust when it sounds like its about to fire I got it to fire up today for about 3 seconds before it stalled is it possible that the crap from inside the cat could have lodged itself in the exhaust system somewhere and not allowing the exhaust to flow freely?

Potentially. Replace that sensor first and go from there.
