Guys, I have a vp6 in a Hiace. Having an issue with wiring. Need to know if the earth on the O2 sensor goes straight to PIN6 without grounding to any earth circuit... OR if the earth on the O2 sensor grounds to the motor/chassis then continues to PIN
6. This wiring issue is very important, because if it is not done correct the motor with run in Open Loop.
PLSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS HElP. Does mechanic out there have the proper wiring diag. NOT the ones in the repair manuals, they are not specific enough.
Not to sure why the green smilely face. supposed to read pin-d6.
Anyway, i went to the wreckers today and they let me have a look at a VP. really happy about that.
I should note: that i ment to say the black ground wire on the O2 sensor; not "the earth on the O2 sensor". it is a little clearer.
I tested the circuit and i can confirm the black ground wire on the O2 sensor goes to pin-D6 on the ECU only. it does not ground to the chassis or engine. Hopefully this may help someone else out, in the future.
it really doesn't matter where it grounds, as long as it's grounded
a s1 vn uses the same ecu but only a single wire o2, it gets it's ground through the case to the exhaust, i've fitted a 2 wire o2 as a replacement and grounded it to the screw for the map sensor, it works fine and has done for the past year.
Personally i'd suggest that you earth the O2 sensor on the engine block as the engine block is the earth point for all the sensors (it's where the wiring loom earths go). I've done this on my VN (originally didn't have a O2 sensor at all and it works fine).
edit: this site has good wiring diagrams http://www.google.co.nz/url?sa=t&rct...4p9yTbCV27RcJA
