i own a 91 holden berlina vn and the last 6 months its had issues with cutting out randomly and wont start after its cut out.
i have checked coil pack and dfi module , leads, plugs, and have replaced crank angle sensor after that it starts for 30 seconds then cuts out and wont start again then a hour later it will do the same thing. can anyone help please??? maby ecu ??
how did you check the dfi module? tried another and it did the same thing?
i borrowed a new dfi module and it diddnt make a diffrence.
since then i have changed the fuel filter and i idles for longer now around 3 minutes and if you give it a lil gas it cuts stright out.?? i can hear the fuel pump running so cant be that.
does the engine light come back on when it stops?
check the fuses and relays in the engine bay for corrosion/bad contacts
check the 2 plugs near the battery that feed power to the engine and ecu for corrosion also
check the connector that joins the engine loom to the dash loom near the ecu
if all that checks out try another ecu if you can borrow one
just cause you can hear a fuel pump running doesn't mean it's pumping properly also, but if it's pumping enough to run for 30 seconds i'd say it's ok, low fuel pressure would still run just rough
an after thought, is it stopping about the same time the oil light goes out? the oil pressure sender has a switch in it that controls the fuel pump, initially the ecu pumps to prime via the relay, once running and has oil pressure that switch takes over or something like that
