knocking noise in engine

ok guys i was just took the car for a drive and at idle there is a knocking noise anyone know what the problem is???

V6 or v8? Is it loud or just enough to hear it?

v6, and just loud enough to hear it. sounds like something is loose

Check the harmonic balancer..or if its at the back it could be balance shaft bearing

i doubt that, sick your head around the engine when you can here it and listen... how often do you do service the motor?...

try using a short length of garden hose as a kind of stethoscope (except you just point it towards the area you want to listen to rather than holding it against). It will isolate the noise source and give you a clue as to what it might be.
If you've only got 1 rattle I'd say you're lucky

had a look at some youtube vids of commos with engine knocks and found the same as mine its the harmonic balancer and is getting done on wednesday, i have only owned it for a few months so i have only serviced it once. the dude who had it before me was a gronk on his green p's
