i would have thought that it would reduce your compression too much unless you had a charger, or shaved the heck out of the heads. Correct me if i'm under any misimpressions though.
I'd rather push my Holden than drive a Ford

I checked COME racing and they don't do them for pre ecotec now ....and they said its basicly a FULL rebuild ..... whats the point ... might just buy a supercharger kit for less

Big misimpression mate! Stroking does not change your compression ratio because you change crank, rods & pistons. By changing the pistons you run the right piston to achieve the desired compression ratio!

Now back to the topic, stroking is a very good way of increasing an engines cubic inches, stroking really increases torque. The good thing about internal mods like stroking is it cant be seen from the outside unlike superchargers.
There is a company around making stroker cranks for early v6 and they are called bradey. There is no substitute for cubic inches!!

lol finally sumone brings up the stroked 6 idea, and yes it has been done before like every other single mod ever mentioned lol, but not a mate but a mate of a mate lol had a VP series 2 calais 3.8L, which he stroked out to a 4Litre, strengthened the top and bottem end to set it up for NOS!!!!!!! yes thats right NOS! havent seem him round but since i heard he had down this so maybe sumnthin went horribly wrong and he disintagrated into flames down the qrter!!!! heheheh lol hope not

sounds like a good mod, how much can i expect to pay all up for this, oviously it should increase killowatt out put but by how much , and say compared to twin throttle bodies or super charger would it really be worth it

I enquired . and it is only worth doing if you re-build an engine . because most internal parts require changing and now COME only support ecotec engines rebuilds

$2000 average for stroker kit 3.8 -> 4.2 . large increase in torque but H/P per $ i think Turbo or Supercharge better

$2000 for re-build - $300 - $1500 for ecotec engine and computer ( or written off VS). Time .... i dunno if $2000 includes labour so your up to $5000 already

... umm to convert and fit a V8 i have been priced remove from complete wrecked V8 VN SS to fit and install without Reco about $1500 for labour ... manual convert add on $500 labour and about 1000 - 3000 for wrecked V8 VN SS

Or sell your V6 Commodore for $2000 - $5000 and buy VN Calias or SS for $3000 - 7000 and another $1500 - 2000 for reco the engine to 185kw
