Most trailers are "old holden pattern" ie torana, eh thru to ht. They changed at HQ.
I had a trailer built, asking them to match hubs with my VS. Clever boys put on Ford hubs which I have put up with as was given a spare. I have decided to change hubs to Commodore as the guys down at Bob Jane gave me some rims, however I will need a step by step guide or even some pictures. This site helped me change the ignition so hoping for help now.
Note to the last, (at the risk of being extremely obvious) I will be fitting hubs that take a VS wheel.
commodore stud patten is 120 pcd
whereis older holdens are 120.1 pcd
thats if it is a 5 stud.
The inside diameter of the hole in the middle of the rim is different as well.
I remember fitting a VH rim to a HQ wagon. Everything kinda went together ok, but when it came time to remove the VH rim from the HQ we had to beat it off with a sledge hammer cause it was firmly wedged on the centre of the hub.
They changed the hub centre and stud pattern from VB onwards as far as I was aware. As well as the obvious wheel offset.

You will also have to make sure that the bearings match your new hubs. For some reason, a lot of people like to use Ford bearings, which are a different size from Holden bearings. If I recall correctly, you can mix and match the stud pattern with both types of bearings.

How to do it ? Basically, if you go to YouTube, and search on "how to change trailer bearings", you will find a dozen helpful 10-minute movies. Of course, you might not have to change your bearings, but instead of re-installing your old hubs, you'll be putting new ones on.
commodore wheels will not fit old holden hubs( ht or earlyer) or hq hubs the will break the stubs if you get them on to hq hubs. you need commodore hubs. try a trailer shop or wreckers for commodore hubs to go on the axles.
You guys are aware this question was asked in 2005, revived by an archaeologist in 2008, then revived by another archaeoligist now? I'm guessing the OP has dealt with the problem by now...
