    Default VP gear shift swapping?

anyone know how to change the gear shift knob in a VP?
it seems the head can't be replaced and that you have to remove the entire shaft.

also, anyone know any decent stockists? i'm wanting to get a leather one, possibly with an hsv emblem on top to match my wheel.

yeah in the vn, it comes off with a little bit of prying. I dunno if anything has changed in the vp compared to the vn, but try not to use too much force on the knob otherwise when you go to put it back on it will wobble on the shaft slightly. It sucks but usually chocking it up with some paper or something stops it wobbling about.

There is a pin in the shifter shaft .. push this out with a umm I used a voltage tester needle and then the shifter part that you move will come loose and then maybe a rubber mallet gently tap shifter head up and it will come off .... be carefull of flying springs

and dont try to remove the other part cause mine snapped

    good luck

umm www.SSV.COM.AU sells carbon fibre and leather ones for about $70 they are listed under VR-VS Mods

I know this has been a while, but did you sort out the gearknob?

Mine is a shifter of a Walky, and all i did was twist it onto the thread.
The knob i have is off a VR/S HSV (Senator infact) but it is thrashed now, if you see 2, let me know

lol, nah, no luck yet, this is one of the few things that drives me nuts about my ride.

gonna use an allen key to take the whole shaft off from the base, then go crazy on the thing, either get it off or get a new short shifter shaft and a head i can swap out.

So you've tried twisting the knob off? as its on a thread, not like those cheap aftermarket ones that have 3 dodgy plastic allen key bolts for them.
