    Question central locking issue

    I got this prob where i can lock and unlock the doors by hand from the drivers side door as it is central locking but with the key i can only lock them. I cant unlock it by key. Some times i can unlock it from the passenger side but not allways. I dont have the remote for the car so cant use that. So would it be a central locking prob ?? If so how would i go about fixing it

    to clarify;
    so on the drivers side you can lock the doors but cant unlock them? if you cant unlock them how do you get in without the remote? if you cant unlock the doors with the key then its a lock problem, not central locking.
    are you just locking or deadbolting - cos you have to turn it extra to unlock it from the drivers side - and that might explain why you cant unlock it from your passengers side sometimes?

    1. i dont lock it because of that prob. It's not registered and in a shed so i dont need to lock it yet. If i do lock it i have the window down when i go to unlock it with the key it looks like the button is going to come up but just wont. And um how do i know if it is deadbolting ?? the security is turned off luckly as i dont have a key for that either i got for $1000 in as is condition

    Default possible solution?

    Believe it or not I have a similar problem. I've had my VP wagon for a few months now and it also has central locking, only problem is it would never unlock the passenger side door. You could unlock it by hand so it was never really an issue. Today it decided to stay locked.....central locking wont move it, the key wont move it and you can't pull it up by hand?!?!?
    I having serious problems trying to remove the door panel cos the friggin door is locked closed!! Don't know how to get the panel off unless I break something - surely there is a way around this? :b:
    Ah yeah, from what I've learnt Habro is right, when the door is deadlocked the keyhole is in the horizontal position, when it's "normally" locked it's in the vertical position. You need to turn it a bit more clockwise from the vertical position to get it to unlock....
    Mine hadn't been used in ages cos the alarm button was only used causing the key lock to be very sticky - squirt some CRC or WD40 into the keyhole, it seemed to loosen it up a bit.
    Hope that helps mate.
    I'll get back to trying not to break my door panel off :b:

    ah yeah, if you want a security system key just go to your local Holden dealer with the cars details ie: rego number, car's vin number etc. oh and proof your not trying to steal it, then they'll give you a key number to take to a locksmith or something and they can cut the key to fit your alarm. The key hole/switch to your alarm is in the pillar in front of the passenger door...
    just dont get your passenger door permanantly locked like i did

    Yeah i think i might just get some one to have a look at it i cant work it out as for the key to the security system i went to the holden dealer here and he said i need to get a new key and the key hole bit then get it instaled and was a bit pricey

    Not that this post has much significance, but deadbolting is twisting the drivers side key all the way to the right disallowing internal opening from memory.
