Hi there,
I used to own a 3.8L VN and used to do it all myself, now i bought a VN ss which is 5L and i was wondering if it was the same procedure?
Put teh heater to hot position, remove pipe at bottom of radiator flush it clean with water? add coolant, bleed etc?
Anyone got a DIY guide on the V8 version so i can have a guide to step through?
Cheers.
i usually take the themostat out and then take off one of the radiator hoses off, shove the hose in and start the engine and run it for a short time (say 1 minute) . if you dont remove the thermostat the clean water will not pass through it if the engine is cold. otherwise you can flush it from 2 different points, before and after the thermostat.
shove like a garden hose with water pouring out and the car on yeah ?
cool thanks.
how would you go about the bleeding procedure ? Same as the v6 way, wait til the engines warm once all the coolants in and bleed when the thermo goes on? or other way?
another question also, my mate uses full concentrate coolant (not mixed) straight for his cooling system, he said that way your engine stays more cool, and less corosion. I guess thats an advantage, Any disadvantages to this? Can you use straigth concentrate for your cooling system? Any comments about that?
Cheers hope to hear.
I used Coolant From Tectaloy for my vn calais now with my vn ss lol i would use specially designed coolant for the 5 litre as there is for the v6 holden called Tectatloy V plus.... Try this website for more info http://www.tectaloy.com/products.htm
Id be speaking to sprints, a local mechanic or a gmh dealer on coolant, i gotta flush mine out soon also so ill be keeping posted on this thread![]()
