    Cool

    Hi All
I changed my VN wagon over to bonnet struts. I grabbed the nuts and bolts and the struts from the wreckers off a Vp and just screwed the main ball mounts in place. they charged me $25 for the pair. Dont forget to get the flat bolts that sit in the gaurds or you may end up with a bent bonnet. These sit in the tops of the gaurds where the struts lay in the tops of the gaurds. also they let everything sit down far enough for the bonnet to shut correctly. I would say it took me about 15mins a side to do with the gaurd flat bolts and then once all those were in I just lifted the bonnet off the old steal stick and pushed on the struts.
dead easy and after another trip the wreckers I was helping others change theres it made a few VN Owner very pleased :-)

If You get stuck for Pics either look at a VP or I will drop you some Pics of My VN conversion no worries

damn you beat me to it!! i had a hard time getting the nuts on the top ball pins it was a mission to keep a nut at the right angle under the bonnet skin. took me about 45mins all up after having to use my faithfull magnetic tip grabber tool to retrieve the dropped nuts. also i seem to have installed my struts upside down not an issue though just pop the clip and rotate it. also i did not have to change any bolts and my struts and bonnet sit perfect maybe i found a home mod cause my bottem bits are around the wrong way too and nothing fouls? anyway here is some pics of mine seeing as though i promised i would post em

    cheers jimbo

    Hi Again
The only reason I mentioned the flat bolts you see in my pictures was all the Vps and up I saw had them so I made sure I changed them. most of the VN bonnets I saw had the bolt holes in the bonnet already but I know what you mean about the holding the nuts inside the bonnet Skin.

Im in Sydney out in Blacktown and if any members would like a hand doing this to there Vns I and free most days. Feel free to give me a PM or email and we can arrange something. I dont mind helping and have a great wreckers close by if anything is needed.

Might be a good idead to ask some of the VR/VS people for pics, im pretty sure they came stock and the setup with the struts would be the same.

    Hi All
I have a mate with a VR sedan I will ask him If
I can take a few pictures. I asked the guy at
the wreckers but they say no Pictures to be
taken inside the yard. Funny that theres nothing
but wrecks around. I guess they are worried about
being Sued. I just wanted to take a few Pics so I
could compare some things. No Camera phones also
but I dont know how they can check everyone for them :-)

I had a look today at the wreckers and found a pair of mint condition boot struts off a VS lexcen. The prob is where and how do i mount them? the fount end of the struts is connected by a piece of metal with a ball joint. The other end is attacted with another ball joint in a bolt sort of thing. I noticed on the VR/VSs there isnt that big piece of metal running up the side behind the arms. It has a lot of holds in it to put in a ball joint. Id imagine id have to remove the old rods. Can i get ball joins from any hardware shops that i can bolt on?

    Hi thats good to know
I think you can check the ball joints on the VP bonnets and the VN to VS
Tail gates. these maybe the same and then you could collect 4 and test the
struts. Please make sure you be carefull and post your findings. I have a wagon but this still interests me. You may need to find some nuts to bolt them in but im sure you are a clever person and will find a good solution.
