you need to be able to turn the key and push a pin in the release hole

if you cant turn the key then go nuts at it with a big screwdriver untill you can turn it

(the following comes from the Gregorys manual):

    1) Disconnect the negative battery terminal
    2) Twist the fuse panel cover retaining clips 90 degrees and allow the cover to swing down,
    3) Loosen the lower steering column cover retaining srews and remove the lower steering column cover from the vehicle.
    4) Insert the ignition key into the lock cylinder and turn the key to the 'On' position.
    5) Insert a 3mm wire into the locking pin hole and depress the locking latch. Withdraw the lock cylinder from the steering column.
    6) Disconnect the wiring harness connector from the ignition switch
    7) Using a small bladed screwdriver remove the ignition switch retaining screws. Withdraw the switch from the steering column.

Installation is a reversal of the removal procedure with attention to the following points:
    1) When installing the lock cylinder ensure that the ignition key is in the 'On' position
    2) When installing the ignition switch ensure that the slot in the switch aligns with the stepped end of the lock cylinder shaft.

    That should help.
