Default Make a VN-P run ALOT cooler

just thought i'd post this up to see if this may help someone.........
the previous owner of my VP had the radiator sh!t itself after he had it for 4 months. he got a VT radiator (from the wreckers, which not only works that bit harder, it doesn't stick out at all below the front bar which is GREAT for reversing out from driveways with big curbs) and a few months before i bought it, he had to replace his H20 pump (apparently a bit of a fault on the HEC3800). with a new water pump and VT radiator she runs colder and a bit smoother as well.

the temperature gauge is almost always on 'C' the whole time (perhaps a bit above with a bit of rev)

only problem is getting a VT radiator 2nd hand from a rear wreck or a project car (or just buy a new one if you have the money)

    hope this helps someone..............

having your car running on C all the time is that good.....you will notice that the fuel consumption will go up, and it can have other side effects

Is this on a V6 or a V8? I have a V6 and have never had it over about 1/4.

    Cheers

    it's a 6.
even with my mate (when he owned it) pushing it ALOT it rose to a tiny bit below about 1/2 way. and that was it.
as for price, a 2nd hand one was claimed on a $50 pick-a-part (wreckers yard 'promo') the new water pump was about $200

As long as your oil reaches normal operating temperature, and your heater works fine once the car is warmed up, then the car should be a ok. U will know if your oil isnt working fine as it will sludge up soon.

The VT radiator is made for a very similar engine, so therefore it should work within the tolerances made by the engine.

it makes a perfect fit. afterall, it is a newer version of the same radiator, just a bit thicker and doesn't poke out underneath the front bar. the VT bay is pretty much exactly the same as the VN-VZ commodore

The radiator support (actual structual piece of the car) is below the radiator. All that hangs below the front bar is the plastic stone guard/cowling. Which can be removed if it scrapes or you don't like the look of it.

my VT radiator has that on it and still doesn't poke out underneath. which is good
