I knew a bloke in a VR V8 who supercharged his car, his engine only lasted two weeks.
Major internals problem after he was dragging at a local 1/8th mile strip.
Motor didn't sound too healthy. I don't know what PSI he had running though.
    Yours Kindly,
    Jim

VNSSMAN, if you want to go really fast for really cheap, I think you would be better off buying a VP V6 with the series two engine in it and running a turbo or supercharger on that, the engine is a little stronger than the 5 liter and muuuuuuch cheaper to replace/fix if you break it

Dont wanna go really fast.. Just want the balls when i need it. If i hav a car full of guys going on a road trip and i hit a decent size hill the car will struggle. I want something that will keep the pace. Already hav cai and k&n just lookin at some headers at moment. Going to get pacemakers tri-y design. See what its like then if unhappy still then stroke it. To many negative opionons about supercharges. Just wanna make the most of v8. Otherwise why hav one with fuel the way it is

The V8 is stronger than tha V6, any day of the week.

If you run low boost, your motor will be fine, and it'll still give you a decent increase. Talking up to 10, i bet those people blowing engines hooked up the charger and ran 20psi from the start.

VNSSMAN. i would be going for the pacemakers like you said you are getting..you will notice a huge difference.. a mate of mine put some header i found at a swap meat. he was told after they are HSV headers??? and before that i found them a 2.5 inch exhaust.. just with the exhaust it made a difference. but with the headers you will notice even more difference.. it would have been lucky to do 200 before that. now it revs right past 200.. was an easy cheap mod thta made some differecnce.. since then he has rebuilt the motor. he just put a mild cam in it.. so now it is cheaper to run and has enough power to get up hills with a car load, etc.. just a good cruising car.. with bugger all spent on it..
on the other hand i know a fella with a 355 stroker.. i have never been in the car but i see him driving the animal around. it has heaps and heaps of go.

i got the sta supercharger in mine for 2yrs now running 9 pnd boost with no problems.you have to do engine work also to run the supercharger or else thats when you run into problems. unfortunetly sta has sold out so the best bet would be the vortec supercharger as most run these days

low boost would be the way to go.
Also i think people just try to bolt on the blower without ensuring the condition of the motor is up to standard.
A suitable compresion ratio also comes highly recommended.
And if you are aiming for skyhigh boost there is NO substitute for expensive/strong engine components.
