hey, my front 2 doors have got the squeaks, the back ones are fine but the front ones squeak badly, ive used WD40, but it fixes the problem for around a week...
would new door pins fix this???
before you go doing that...get the little pipey thingy you get with wd40 and aim it inside the back part of the door (front of car end where the pins you speak of are) and spray liberally onto the hinge that sits inside the door....move the door around a bit and then do the same again.
this might help...
also you could try greasing the pins instead of wd40...it would last longer.
true, cheers![]()
my drivers door started to drop so i replaced the pins now its good all it took was a hammer, drill bit (to knock the new ones in with) and some pliers (to grip and hit with hammer to get pins out) all up took 5 mins to do but i needed som1 to hold the door in position whilst i put the new pins in. but i guess you could support the door with somthing and just do one at a time instead of doing what i did and taking both out then putting both in
it cost me less than $5 for both pins from motor traders

grease or graphite
by motor traders u mean wreckers right???
no i mean new pins from the large corporation "motor traders" and grease is the go not graphite

awesome, do they do postage???
cheers aero
lol if you cant find any then ill get em for you and post them to you for $6 total ($5 for pins $1.00 for stamp and letter) or if you want express post (i think is about $3.50 or $4 for under 50 grams) ill do so for $10 (pins @ $5 postage at $5 to be safe)

lol cheers
Holden sell them for about $3 each
Wouldn't recommend hitting them in with a drill bit either use a drift aluminium works good.
ahha nice, but will they fit a VN as i know holden no longer stock VN/VP parts, they're "obsolete" apparently lol :P mine still drives
WD-40 dries out that's why it only lasts a week. Use a spray oil like that Nulon Lube Oil stuff. Then it should last longer.

a drill bit works extreamly well and doesnt damage the pin in any way and its the perfect length to avoid removing the door catchOriginally Posted by jamieaus

I agree totally.Originally Posted by 2Fast2FuriousDude
Why not actually use the holden part made for this exact thing ?
Theres a lube pencil - a bit like a candle except softer and about the size of an autographing texta. Works wonders - doesn't run, doesn't collect dust.
I'll get the part number.
for the door pins, is it $3 each, or $3 a pair as each door has 2 pins (doing front doors thats $12,
ill go down tommorrow
ok ok so i went to holden today,
the door pins are $2.50 each
you also can get the rubber stoppers as i did, they're $1.00 each
ok so each door needs 2x of each, so i paid $7 for 1 door...
what kinda grease do i need?? and do i need to grease them?
The reason I suggest not to use a drill bit to hit them in is because a drill bit will possible shatter anyone who decides to use a drillbit against my advice please wear safety glasses.
it doesnt take enough force to break a drill bit just tapping the pins in....... not even for a cheap one

Regardless it is dodgy
Yep you can buy those waxy sticks from Autobarn, Supercheap.
But you can buy a tool for around $20-$30 to get those door pins out. Makes the job a whole lot easier.
