hey guys... ive been having this problem for a bit now, but its been progressively getting worse
i got my tranny serviced last wedensday, hoping it'd fix it... it fixed most the problems like the slow shifting but it didnt fix this,
after the cars been on for like 5mins+ the 2nd gear makes a funny random clicking sound that increases with revs they didnt notice anything when they serviced it so im gonna take it back and show them the issue but anyone have any ideas of what it could be?? and anyone had this problem before?
have you checked the torque convertor? might only make the noise in second because 2nd has the most torque. Never heard of a 'clkicking' sound coming from an auto, so thats all i can think of

yeah that makes sence, its not really a clicking sound its REALLY hard to describe, ill get them to check it out, torque converters expensive?
it does it round 2000 revs while going up hills.. yet on normal road round 3000revs...
the sound is definatly comming from the engine bay, yet its not the engine because i can rev it to 4000-5000 without the sound (ie it';ll make the sound, so i drop it in netural and rev it and its fine, then i drop it back into gear and it makes it... but they'res no torque hitting the wheels when not in gear so it makes sence
Definatly sounds like the torque convertor. Could be one of the 4 bolts have snapped.
I screwed mine up, although 3 were snapped, and the 4th was about to, missed out on a bloddy burnout comp because of that stupid thing.
If it is that, you should get out of it pretty cheap, i think wrckers would only charge 100 or so for one, or you could get new. Not totally sure of the costs, as i only buymanuals now.
The convertor is at the front of the trans (where the clutch would be) and it should have a dust cover over it, but if you start the car and leave in neutral, and stick your head under and listen, it'd be obvious if it is the convertor.

how do u remove it?? can you give me a guide?
hrm, read a few articles on the net,
do i have to remove the transmission to get to the torque converter???
could the flexplate be dodgy aswell??
would i have the correct tools to do this at home??

its not the tranmission, the engines pinging just need to get a timing chain ajustment

LOL i was gonna say ay. U'd wanna hope its not the torque converter coz theyre a bitch to get out. U have to drop the gearbox completely out to get to it, and sometimes even doin that is hard in series 2's coz the shaft that goes into ur torque converter is just a tad too long to drop the box straight out and u have to lift the engine and slide it forward a tad to drop the box.
lol yep, woulda had to rip the tranny out, still i think its just my timing chain is loose... as its fine untill 10 mins after driving
