Does any one know how to remove the old barrell out of the column without a key? I've got a new lock to put in but need to take out the old one for which I don't have the key. I know that you have to rotate the barrel before the release pin will let it slide out of the barrell. I don't want to pull the column out of the car if I dont have to. Any ideas??![]()
Learn how to pick locks, either that or give your local locksmith a call and get them to pick it for you.
As far as I know the ONLY way to get that release pin to show is by turning the barrel.
If you're not concerned about damaging anything, do what all lazy car thiefs do, put a screwdriver in there, and mash it with a hammer until it turns.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
either gut the old barrel with a screwdriver (its pretty soft metal or go get your drill and drill it out bit by bit until you can see the lock latches then with a big screw dirver click the latches in and at the same time turn the barrel and there you go
