Before ne one asks - yes I searched and I now know that a VS dash cluster will not go into a VP (Straight swap).
Relevance = NONE.
What I would like to know is haw difficult it is to remove and replace the dash - as in the bit that goes across from door to door.
Mine has developed a number of crows feet and split that just look ugly.
Is it as much of a hassle as replacing the hood lining with a stack more screws ?
Or
Should I just buy a dash mat ?
What sort of $$ for a replacement ?
Many Thanks
PS. if this is the 100th time this has been asked please link me.
dunno how much a wreckers would want but you just have to unscrew everything then undo the 7 main 10mm bolts, cut the cable ties holding the wiring to the dash
unplug all the wiring from behind the dash (can be a hassle getting everything back in the new one but you can)
once youve done that you can just slide it out (need the steering wheel off ofcourse)
then you have the hard part getting the sucker back in the hardest part is getting the wiring back to where it was to begin with this will be fustrating and can be easier if you cable tie it all back to where it came from.
then its just a matter of getting a mate and one gets one side lined up the other lines his side up and bang the main side bolts back up and the rest is how you took it apart.
its not that hard but it ends up taking a while
im not admiring your car im looking in disgust
Can't you get the dash re-skinned like in older car restorations?
I'll make some calls.
I think the dash would have to come out if it were to be repaired.
And my car's been broken into a couple of times so some of the brackets/holes have been broken so it may be worth sourcing another in good nick if need be get it re-covered.
