Hey guys,
I installed a pod filter this weekend to the clais, only to be very dissapointed (then i read the threads!! hahaha!!!) i have since removed and re nstalled the stock setup....
I am going to get a K & N panel to sit in the box, and am planning a vs v8 cold air snorkle (is this as good as the ss inductions one?) but my question is...
Has any one cut a hole beneath the airbox to run some ducting to pick up from the from air dams??
There seems to be a fair amount of structual metal between the box and the air dam, and is it illegal???
What size and type of ducting would you reccomend???
I remember back in 97 my first vl (of 5!!) i cut a hole beneath and used 4 inch plumming pipes and fixtures and used a larger collecter to get a "venturi effect" with good results...
Is the too inlets too much? would the vs/ss intake be sufficient??
Thanks Guys![]()
Yes Dave the VS V8 one is good, better if you open up the mouth of it a bit with a heat gun and some tools, but you could make a better setup if you sat down and thought about it, alot of people cut out the bottom the the air box right though the car but I wouldn't do that. Probably not legal as you say and to do that to a VN V8 would be criminal anyway
How much power did you loose with the pod? fairly massive in the day time isn't it
Green, when i first ran the pod it was similar, but after a few minutes the engine bay heated up and it was quite sluggish....
I have run some 1.5 inch pipe from the opening in the airbox from the air dams in bumper till i find a suitable solution.....
What is the best panel filter these days???
When i did the cai in the xr8 i used a foreign brand, cant remember the name but i was marketed by ss induction, it seemed to flow really well...
The K&N filter is made of like cheese clothyou can see straight through it if you hold it up to the sunlight (all little holes) so you need to have faith in the oil to seal up those holes, but it does flow very well as you would expect, If I was going to do a proper CAI I'd make a new bigger airbox from sheet metal or some kinda fiberglass then run a large K&N pod filter inside that with large ducts comming into it from in or under the front bumper, but the stock VS parts are ok for now

The SS Inductions brand is called Kingdragon
u thought about going the VS SC CAI setup ?
It wont fit over the V8's fan shroud, the V8 one is just as good once you hit it with a heat gun anywayOriginally Posted by projectaero
