Does anyone know a good mechanic in Perth. One that specialises in VN/VP's.
Preferable in Osborne Park area.
this is nice coming from a mechanic ehOriginally Posted by VN_F_cker

I am not a mechanic. I can do things but this car just gives me the Sh*ts.
I don't have the time to chase a stupid problem for days or weeks. This seems to be a common problem for these cars but unfortunetly checking 15 different things and it is still not going there is a time when you have to say enough is enough.
I have been through diferent problems with this car and the last one was a simple thermostat that was rep[laced, followed by hoses and nearly the entire cooling system before the engine finally died.
I have now installed a lowish k VP engine and now things start to happen again. I don't have the patience for this car anymore especially when my own VN just come back from having a VP engine install.
I Can't drive the car as it just stalls even when in idle let alone putting it into d.
i wasn't refering to you as a mechanic,it was me i was talking about,(nice coming from a mechanic eh?)...because i know how much the labor is,your paying dead money if you can do it yourself.if it's doing that, then it's obviously getting fuel and spark, but not just enoughOriginally Posted by VN_F_cker
have you checked DFI and EFI units?
finding a good one is as difficult as finding a wife. by the way most of them will rip you off before fix you car. this is called supplier induced demand.
pull the computer fuse (7.5 amp fuse, number 10 I think?), wait 5 minutes, plug it back in, start up the car, let it idle for a bit, then rev it to like 2k for 10-15 seconds......
take it for a drive see if it still stalls... if it does, you've wasted 15 minutes and potential saved hundreds of $$
