    Default engine pinging.....

    hey,

had this weird noise in my engine... only just found out it was the sound of pining... lol

anyway got it checked out today and apparently it could be the knock sensor in the engine thats causing the pinging...

holden sell the sensor for $214 apparently the sensor is located under the intake manifold... they want round $400 fitted, how long would this job take? ive got a coupple of mates who could probbly do it for me, or i could do it my self as im intrested in learning more about engines, is there any guide i could use??

Have you tried running a higher octane fuel?
The knock sensor is on the right hand side of the engine at the front. It is near the oil filter & oil pressure sender.
Should be easy enough to do yourself.

ok ok took it to the mechanics... hes like its ya knock sensor... and hes like its round $500 to fix... you have to remove the intake manifold to get to it and its a real bitch of a job.......

anyway... got the page on how to replace a knock sensor from hackhawk (gregories i think) and its like here it is with a picutre...

its in PLAIN FKN VIEW.... they were trying to rip me off... they're $214 new (genuine) or a fraction of that if they're not

or better yet the $1 ones....
    (flog-a-part)

lol quick fix for now but i dont have money, let-a-lone $500 PFFT

    never goin there again

also im trying optimax extreme next tank, %100 with ethnol....

the knock sensor on your car is dead easy to get to, just near the oil filter.
LS1 knock sensors are under the manifold

Umm who told you a knock sensor costs $200 for a V6 VN.
Mine cost me $64 from an Auto place here in my town. If you look at your engine, above the oil pressure sender unit. You will notice that the knock sensor is above this.
To remove the wire, you need to squeeze the black plastic cap to pull the wire off. Then use a socket, or a ring spanner to undo. Then reverse procedure.
With mine, I endup very gently using multigrips and a rag to do up the knock sensor as I had bad tools and burred the nut on the new knock sensor.
    Yours Kindly,
    Jim

as for the pinging problem im going to try higher octane fuel (%100)
and fix the external knock sensor first... (just gotta get one)

but the kit was cheap as and it wouldnt have been there tommorrow...
