    Question engine swap.

hay guys, currently rebuilding my vn. Doing it in 2 weeks flat while im off work haha so im a bit pressed for time and trying to avoid problems. spent this week doing the interior, be doing all the pannels on the weekend. And hoping to drop the enigne in early next week. I've just got a stock basic 3.8 litre v6 and a 4 speed auto, was wondering if i can slide the engine in and out nice n easy if its still attached to the gear box? ANd if there was any problems anyone has come across?

Also wondering if anyone in brisbane could recommend where to get a stage 1 or stage 2 shift kit from and how much?

    muchly appreciated guys.

thanx heaps champ. the one it's coming out of has no front end, so that'll be easy, was just a bit worried about dropping it in. N that's pretty cheap, love the note of great gear change haha, got a great exhaust on it, so it'll sound ripper.

Thought i might throw sum pics in of the process so far. Bought 2 days worth of work. I've got 2 commy's, all the gear from one into the other.

damaged vn with all the good gear.

    the stripping process.

changed the carpet and steering wheel over, and installing the new wiring harness for the sound system.

all the goodies about to go in.

wow! someone should make a reality TV show about this hehe!

    good work!

cut the rad support out of the wreck before you remove the motor/box, will make life a lot easier

as for putting it in the new one, trans+motor will go right in together... make sure you put the radiator in last, as it's prone to damage, also the firewall/plasticy thing on top of it is prone to scratching/crushing while trying to get angles for the motor/trans right... so just chuck a blanket over it or something!

Good Luck! can't wait to see it done!

haha cheers, yeh its a bit of a mission. Going alright so far tho. Just having trouble with small things like i can't put the seats in until i'll swapped the boot, can't put much back in until i've put the wiring for central locking in, but i can't do that until i've swapped the doors. So its a bit of a tangle trying to get everything in.

N yeh im cutting that front end straight off, hook the engine to the hoist, then roll the car back, screw moving the hoist :P n i wasn't planning on pulling the fan and radiator out but do you recomend it? Spose it's gonna give me alot more room to play with.

The backs holding out, i've only hurt it once n that was stupidly lifting the 15 inch sub box out. D'oh. Well better get back to it
