VN series 2/VP differences

When people say that the VP is slightly gruntyer then the VN does that include the series 2? to me it looks like there in almost no difference between the series 2 and the VP motors. Id like to clear this up because my annoying mate reakons that the VP would be slightly faster over any stock VN, series 1 or 2

VN SII motor is identical to VP motor. Series I VNs are much harsher and quicker off the mark. SII and VP has 2kw more power than SI and the VP weighs from 40 - 70kg more than a VN SI. The SII and VP may have more top end(?).
Performance all round is very similar (stated under duress as I don't wish to start the VN/VP argument again)
