two questions for yas
1) i have gone thru $60 worth of fuel this week, only done about 30 k's, not like her, she usually uses $20 to about 100 k's around town.
2) there is an oil leak, thought it might have been power steering fluid, BUT
a) the power steering fluid is not dropping in level
b) it seems to be appearing from a hose just under the radiator. but this hose is clamped off with no visible leaks. it is a bright red fluid, definitley not engine oil.
probally transmission oil dude, going to the tranny cooler on the side of the radiator, it's the same fluid used in power steering (dexron 11d) find the 2 hoses comming off the radiator on the right hand side looking down on it (bout 15mm in diameter) and follow them along, it may be split cracked, or a hose clamp is just loose.
in regards to fuel consumption i hope you mean 300k's and that above is a typo, because if your going throuhg nearlly a full tank in 30k's, youve got yourself a gapping hole in fuel tank,
by an 02 sensor a new one, from bursons (NGK -$75) and that should increase fuel consumtion nicely
no typo's, no fuel leak, have been over the car, no fuel leaks at all
no holes in the tank, only replaced the fuel lines at christmas time as they were split to the shithouse.
been fine since, till this week, running like a piece of shit, on start up she is running lumpy, actually feels like an engine mount has gone, the whole car shudders.
wondering, finally whether i bought myself a lemon.
will get under it tomorrow with degreaser yet again and see what happens
thankyou for that advice on the transmission oil.

Sounds like you have faulty injectors or regulator valve.
check your ECU ,or maybe sumone has put the wrong fuel pump in it.
Real cars don't power the front wheels, they lift them
Maybe someone has been syphoning your fuel out. To go through 50 ltrs for 30ks must be some sort of record. Even the Supercars don't drink that much!
Seriously, there may be a leak when the system is under pressure and you're not seeing it. It could be spraying out onto the road (or god forbid some part of the car that gets hot), and just evaporating as it comes out. Check all of the joins in the fuel lines with the engine running. Test the fuel pressure at the regulator, if it's way too high, that's a pump problem, if it's way too low, that could either be a fkn big leak, or a pump problem.
Gravity is proof that nature keeps getting us down.
thats a good point too

Thanks for your ideas guys, will be getting back under her today to have a look. If all else fails off to me mates the mechanics![]()
he is a legend
Thankyou again
Sandy
Took it to my mechanics yesterday, there was a crack in the transmission fluid hose, so that was fixed easily
but as far as the fuel problem goes, haha, it's not doing it now
filled her up on monday and have done about 100k's and nothing has gone wrong. i topped the tank back up today to see how much fuel she has used and she used about 7 litres around town. so i am happy with that.
but anyway, will see how she goes this week haha
Sandy
A leaking transmission hose shouldn't be responsible for your car using THAT much fuel. It would still be good to know where the hell it went.

7 litres per 100k in city traffic or where you just driving around the city and used 7 litres?Originally Posted by missvix
I wish I could get that fuel consumption - not likely though!!!![]()
aah see i live in port macquarie, this is a town, not a city, hahaOriginally Posted by CLE
but nah i am very happy with her now
got a diagnostic on her today, timing is perfect
no that was just an additional problem with herOriginally Posted by mouce

Hey guys, thanks for all the suggestions, was awesome, thankyou
but she started leaking fuel again!!!! go figure, i put my foot down and i could smell it.
so i bit the bullet and took her to my mechanic,
And he located the fuel problemsome of my fuel hoses were not clamped at all, along with the breather hoses, go figure.
Anyway, $77 later, i am a happy lassie![]()
A big thankyou to Muras Automotive in Port Macquarie here, they are awesome guys![]()
And have themselves a cute apprentice toohehe so lets just say i might get them to do all the work now
